5. Conclusion

Summary of findings
The results of our experiment shows that the most effective disinfectant in lysing E. coli is Sodium Hydrochlorite, while the most effective disinfectant in lysing S. aureus is Hydrogen Peroxide.

Practical Applications
While no specific protection against the transmission of bacteria and diseases, cleanliness and hygiene has been acknowledged as a key element to prevent the spread in the community. The efficacy of the disinfection agents used in medical facilities, with constant exposure to bacteria, therefore has to be constantly assessed and tested to stop the spread of bacteria and diseases. With the knowledge of the efficacy of disinfection agents, an effective disinfectant agent could be used further lower the transmission of diseases. Also, recommendations of Chlorine-based disinfectants for E. coli and Peroxide-based disinfectant agent for S. aureus can be made to further reduce their transmissions.

Areas for further study
We could further study the effectiveness of a broader range of disinfectant, in different conditions such as temperature, concentration etc. This, could lead to the development of new and better disinfectants, which can be more effective in killing bacteria than it is today.
